Dr. Bratzel is a proud member and past president of the New
Mexico Academy of General Dentistry. The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD)
is a professional association of more than 37,000 general dentists from the
United States and Canada. Founded in 1952, the AGD has grown to become the
world’s second largest dental association.
AGD’S mission is to serve the needs and represent the interest of general
dentists, to promote the oral health of the public and to fostered continued
proficiency of general dentists through quality continuing dental education in
order to better serve the public.
HOW AGD MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS PATIENTS
AGD members strive to provide the best possible patient care through their
dedication to continuing dental education. This helps them stay up to date on
the latest dental procedures and technologies. In order to maintain AGD
membership, dentist must take 75 hours of continuing education over a three year
period. However, most members average more than 40 hours each year.
The state of New Mexico Dental Health Board requires only 20 hours a year of
continuing education for its dentists.
DESIGNATIONS
Dr. Bratzel has the unique designation of being a Fellow of the Academy of
General Dentistry. Less than 2% of all the dentists in the country have
earned that high status. To be a fellow an AGD member must complete a
minimum of 500 continuing education credit hours, pass a comprehensive detailed
exam, and fulfill the strict criteria for this honor.
